This is an open posting for the 2024/25 school year. The ExCEL after school program is anticipated to begin September 23, 2024.
ExCEL (Extended Community Enriched Learning) is an HRCSD after-school enrichment program that is funded through a five-year grant administered by the Oregon Department of Education. The purpose of the ExCEL grant is to provide students with increased access to Spanish language development and exposure to culturally diverse experiences that highlight the local Hispanic community. Instructs students for the purpose of improving their success in academic, interpersonal and daily living skills through after school enrichment activities.
ExCEL Instructors will be paid $28/hour. As an instructor, you can 'teach' any topic that you have knowledge and experience with. The program is run at three elementary schools (Mid Valley, Cascade Locks, and Parkdale), and at Wy'east Middle School. You can sign up for specific days of the week, for certain hours after school, or you can choose to fill in as needed.
The programs at the elementary schools run from 2:00-5:00 Monday-Thursday for a total of 100 days; the middle school program will run from 3:30-5:30 Monday-Thursday at Wy'east Middle School for 120 days.

Job Requirements:
- Required of all ExCEL Instructors: Possess a minimum of 72 quarter credits of college coursework, an Associate's degree, or have a passing score on the CBEST or Paraprofessional Assessment.
- Possess a skill or talent that you would like to teach or instruct students in.
- Prior experience working with ELL or Title I students preferred.
- Paid experience working with after school or extended year programs preferred.
- Knowledge of or willingness to learn current educational practices, and research validated curriculum.
- Knowledge and understanding of the needs and issues related to the student population served.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills are preferred
- Pass a nation-wide, criminal justice fingerprint clearance.
- The rate of pay for instructors is $28/hour.
