WELCOME TO HOOD RIVER COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT!  Substitutes are needed for the 2024/25 school year.
We are needing Classified (non-licensed) substitutes to work intermittently, as needed, when our regular staff are absent.  These include Custodians, Food Service Workers, Secretaries, Instructional Assistants, and Paraprofessionals.  Work is available on student contact days and on some weekends or evenings.  You can choose the type of positions that you want to substitute in on the application.

Classified substitutes are paid hourly at step 1 of the classification they are subbing in.  Recent PERS-retired district Classified employees are paid their last hourly rate of pay if subbing in the same classification they retired from.

Current Requirements:
  • Electronic Application
  • Criminal background/fingerprinting
  • Onboarding paperwork
  • SafeSchool video training sessions
  • Sexual misconduct reference check with prior educational employers (if any)
  • Oregon Food Handlers card (for Food Service substitutes)
  • Provide the names and contact information for three (3) references

Hood River County School District will accept substitute applications through May 31, 2025.   Not all types of substitutes should expect to be called to work during recognized school breaks (Winter, Spring, Summer breaks).
