Job Purpose Statement: The job of “SLC Instructional Assistant” is performed under the direct or indirect supervision of a licensed staff member for the purpose/s of assisting in the instruction and supervision of students. This position will work 1:1 and in small groups on academic and life skills with students with significant disabilities and needs. Applicants should demonstrate flexibility, patience, and a belief that every learner can grow. Employees in this classification do not supervise others.

Experience Required: Prior job related experience with school age children, adolescents, preferably in a high-needs/SLC setting.

 

Education Required: Possess the equivalent of 72 quarter-credits of college coursework (equivalent to an Associate's Degree), or have passed the CBEST (California Basic Education Skills Test) or the ETS Paraprofessional Assessment. Official college transcripts or passing test results will be required, upon hire.

Compensation: The salary range listed below is for the 2023/24 school year.  The hourly rate includes a 2.5% per hour pay premium for working in a High Needs SLC or TLC program. Employees who pass the District's Bilingual English/Spanish exam also receive a 5% per hour pay premium.
